Lasting Powers of Attorney

There is a misconception, that if you are unable to manage your affairs due to an accident, stroke, dementia or any other mental illness, then your spouse, partner, member of your family or business associate will be entitled to make decisions on your behalf in relation to your assets and welfare. The reality is that all your assets (including bank accounts) could be frozen and your home could be sold leaving your loved ones extremely vulnerable.

WEP can prepare and place into effect a Lasting Power of Attorney. This document once registered will:

  • avoid lengthy, costly and intrusive court processes
  • avoid a stranger taking care of your affairs
  • provide you with peace of mind that your future affairs are in the hands of a trusted and known individual who knows you, cares for you and understands your needs

There are 2 types of Lasting Power of Attorney.

  1. Property and Financial Affairs Lasting Powers of Attorney
This allows you to appoint a trusted family/friend/business partner to act on your behalf in respect of your financial matters.
  2. Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney
This allows you to appoint a trusted family/friend to make decisions on your behalf regarding your care and day to day wellbeing.
